v0.22.15 Update

Inline with the last update we made this is another update for Project Glimpse: Node Edition version 0.22.15 to address some fixes that we couldn’t get in the original v0.22 release.

New install options:

The biggest addition in this release is support for Npm’s new npx command and for using as a global module. Both these options make it easier to use Glimpse without having to modify any code within your project and without having to commit changes to source. This makes it easier than ever to take Glimpse for a spin and try it out.

Global command:

Install Glimpse globally on your machine with no changes required to your project.

npm install -g @glimpse/glimpse

Use the glimpse command in place of the standard node command.

glimpse server/index.js

Finally, open your app in a browser. The Glimpse HUD should now be at the bottom right of your app.

Npx command:

Use the new npx command to launch the glimpse command in place of the standard node

npx @glimpse/glimpse server/index.js

And as with the global command, open your app in a browser. The Glimpse HUD should now be at the bottom right of your app.

Bug fixes/updates:

  • Node:

    • Fix where parsing of stacks in Node v8.x.x that could cause issues
    • Add improved banner when Glimpse loads
    • Fix cases where Glimpse would fail when Socket.io is in use
  • Browser:

    • #127 Request entity too large
  • Client:

    • Add feedback mechanism that allows users to more proactively give feedback

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who submitted feedback or bugs, and a special shout out to those who reported the issues fixed above:
